It’s still hot around these parts and mother nature is not exactly behaving like Fall. During a recent pinning bender, I came across some dramatic modern florals in the form of wall paper, fabric and art that really made me want to curl up with a book and a cup of tea on a chilly day. These new florals have a way of setting an elegant, moody, etherial and dramatic tone. As you’ll see below in some of these pics, dark florals really pop against the contrast of white. They’re absolutely made to go with brass finishes, and look equally amazing when paired with both modern and traditional accents. Oh my gawwwwwd they’re beautiful.
You can go bold and wallpaper an entire powder room, as seen below here from Amber Interiors.
This elegant office makes wonderful use of the black and white contrast. Again I love the touches of brass on the bookshelf sconces.
Check out this dressing room in a recent Goop (as in Gywneth Paltrow’s growing empire) pop up shop in Chicago. I’m not sure why you’d have a bathtub in a dressing room exactly, but nevertheless it’s a lovely mix of old and new.
This bedroom from House of Brinson makes me want to curl up and take a nap.
All of the florals above are from Elle Cashman. She has a line of fabrics and pillows in silk, velvet and cotton which would be a more subtle way to bring in the look without having to commit to an entire wall or room. You can see more from her here.
This floral pillow pairs nicely with modern art, lighting and and graphic pillows. Design by Studio McGee.
I love the simple black and white of this bedroom featured in House Beautiful using a Ralph Lauren wallpaper.
You can also bring in the look with art as seen in this lovely dining room that pairs a black and white still life floral photo with mid-century modern furniture and an antique rug and chandelier. Via The Makerista.
Check out these stunning floral fine art photography prints from Ashley Woodson Bailey. She also has a line of stunning wallpaper and fabric.
And lastly, I realize this mural from Ane Wall Decor isn’t exactly a floral. It’s more of a pastoral scene, but still cool in the right setting. See more from Ane Wall Decor here on Etsy.
I’m not overly committed to florals like these in my own home, but I can still appreciate them for the works of art they are. Now bring on the cooler weather please!
