So sorry for the long pause! I had to set aside blogging in October to focus on a few big projects. Mainly, finishing up a client project, working on a re-design/re-brand of my website and design business and re-modeling my master bathroom. Hate to leave you hanging, but that’s just a hint of some exciting things to come in the new year. In the mean time, my favorite time of year is upon us. Sure, some folks like to go from Halloween straight to Christmas, but not this girl. I really love Thanksgiving. It’s all about family, friends, good food and of course giving thanks for all of the above. These are crazy times and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to gather my loved ones and celebrate what I have.
In reality, Thanksgiving is less than a week away and I’m expecting a house full of family. Did I mention I’m down a bathroom too? That means I’m going to minimize stress and keep the table setting pretty simple. You can still get a festive look without getting too complicated by using a few strategically placed bits of greenery and candles. I’ll leave you with a few lovely and inspiring images.
It’s full-on festive mode around here with Christmas parties and my daughter’s 13th birthday this week — it’s been one celebration after another. I can’t believe I’m about to be a parent of a teenager, but that’s a post for another day. Even though its a crazy time of year, I love it all and I’d love to be able to share beautifully styled photos of our house all decked out for the holidays, but I simply haven’t had the time. So instead, I’m going to share a collection of some lovely holiday images that make me feel the spirit of Christmas. Enjoy!

Last weekend my husband and I took a quick trip up to Portland, Oregon. He travels there a few times a year for business, but it was my first time. The trees were sporting all sorts of beautiful autumn shades of orange, red and yellow and there was a crisp feeling of fall in the air. On Friday we explored the city together and ended up on the very charming 23rd street. We did our share of beer and tasty treat sampling (Salt & Straw ice cream!) and I wandered into a great home store called Manor Fine Wares. Okay I’ll be honest it may have been more like a stumble after the beer.
The store is filled with all kinds of goodness in the form of furniture, accessories, lighting, tableware, linens and even some unique jewelry.
I loved this cozy fireplace nook with the convex mirror and all the indigo accessories.
Plaid is everywhere this season.
This table setting had me thinking about Thanksgiving, which happens to be my favorite holiday. We’re hosting this year and I’ve been thinking about how perfect these plates would be on my table ever since I laid eyes on them.
I happen to know these come from Juliska and you can get all the goods below here.
I can’t believe how fast the holidays are approaching. I’m not ready to deck the halls just yet because I want to savor Thanksgiving first. I’m all for the “Save Thanksgiving” movement. How ’bout you?
Finally! It feels like fall around here. Cloudy skies, a few rain drops and leaves on the ground. Have I mentioned how much I love fall? Except I could do with out the Pumpkin Spice lattes. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of them, but the taste, not so much. Okay enough of that. Here are some fun finds to get in the fall spirit.
